Dog Training Classes

POLICIES:

All dogs are required to be up to date on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella at time of registration to be allowed in class. 

 

Prong collars, choke collars, and electric collars are not permitted in class.

A Puppy’s First Steps

Trainer: Kelli Yogerst

For puppies 8 weeks to 5 months. 

Learn:

  • focus on their owners
  • the benefits of mat behaviors
  • loose leash walking
  • impulse control
  • sit, down, stay

$100 for 5 weeks

Availability:

Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00pm

April 30-May 28 (FULL)

Lifeskills

For puppies 6 months and older and dogs. 

Learn:

  • Basic obedience like sit, down, stay
  • to “focus” on their owner with distractions

$125 for 6 weeks

Beyond Basics

For puppies or dogs who have completed a Lifeskills 1 or Lifeskills 2/Basics class.

Must be able to demonstrate: walking politely on leash, have a reliable recall, handler has reasonable control of dog, and can hold a “stay” for 15-30 seconds. 

Learn to:

  • Work on focus and distractions through engaging activities
  • Transition to minimal leash handling
  • Course builds a foundation for Canine Good Citizen testing and eventual participation in canine performance activities

$125 for 6 weeks

K9 Nosework®

INTRO TO K9Nosework®️ Trainer: Michelle Gross

No available classes

For puppies and dogs 6 months and older.  Crates will be utilized when dogs are not active in class but not required.  (Flat buckle or martingale collars only, regular 6 ft leash)

Learn to:

  • Navigate and process all kinds of environments through scent motivated activities.
  • This course also builds confidence, reduces stress, focuses the mind, and burns so much energy
$125 for 6 weeks
INTRO TO ODOR/CONTINUE ON ODOR  Trainer: Michelle Gross

Prerequisite: completed Intro to K9 Nosework®️ This is a combined class for students who are still on primary, as well as those on odor. 

Dogs will be introduced to or continue to search for:

  • Birch, anise, and clove, in a variety of environments
$125 for 6 weeks
ODOR ADVENTURES  Trainer: Michelle Gross

For puppies and dogs 6 months or older. 

This class is open to any dogs on odor, regardless of prior training. We will be searching for odor in all of the elements (weather permitting) while exploring all the nooks and crannies in our facility.

$25 per session

Private Lessons

Each private session is tailored to the owner’s needs and the needs of the dog.  Private sessions are held at our facility.  Please call the shelter to check availability.

$70 (initial consultation)- 1 hour

$40 – 30 minutes

Youth Classes

Trainer: Chris Thalhammer

Youth ages 14 years and up, must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

$60 for 4 sessions
