Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as it is to the caterpillar…

Education is a large component of The Washington County Humane Society’s mission. Our organization goes into schools, after-school programs and day care centers teaching children about responsible pet care, bite prevention, and the role of the Humane Society in their community. Scout and church groups visit the shelter for tours and presentations as well. Approximately 1500 school-age children benefit from these programs annually.

WCHS offers a variety of visit topics, ranging in age appropriateness. Each talk will be tailored to the age and size of the group.

To schedule a school visit, please fill out an Outreach Request form under our “Services” tab and indicate whether the visit will take place at WCHS or off-site.
