My first animals came from WCHS, along with my earliest childhood memories of watching my mother work to end animal abuse and neglect as a charter member in the 1960s. It is rewarding to “come home” and continue the laudable work she and others began.
What I love about working at WCHS is knowing that I am part of a great team who takes care of animals temporarily who haven’t found their “forever” homes yet. These animals are safe, warm & fed and love us no matter what has happened to them before they came to WCHS. Then, after they have been adopted and we get to read the letters from their happy owners – who has a better job than us?
I am amazed each and every day by the generosity, compassion, and love the volunteers pour into their work here at WCHS. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this community and to be in the role of helping to grow and strengthen our group of volunteers that are such an important part of making our mission a reality. Bonus – I’m surrounded by people who love cats as much as I do!
