Qualifications
- Veterinary Technician Certification required
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day
- Excellent communication skills, be team oriented, and enjoy a fast paced environment
- Candidates must be committed to treating animals with kindness and respect
Schedule
- 20-25 hours
- Must be flexible with schedule. Currently Thursday is our surgical day, subject to change different times of year.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical list and prep surgical room
- Anesthetize animals and assist with surgical prep, monitor anesthesia and post-operative care
- Calculate drug dosages; handle and track controlled substances
- Perform dental prophy
- Draw blood for various tests, perform fecals, urinalysis, and run cytologies
- Clean and maintain equipment, surgical quarters, and animal areas as needed
- Complete appropriate paperwork promptly and accurately
- Administer medication
- Monitor daily health of animals in care
- Keep animal medical records updated
- Additional duties as assigned
