Dear Friends,To say that these last several years have been a challenge is an understatement. The economy has taken a toll on our work as donations decreased and our services increased. Despite that reality, WCHS has managed to stay afloat and provide thousands of animals a safe haven and a second chance. Our economy is slowly coming back…and we are committed to our valuable work. We are spaying and neutering more animals than ever before…and we are providing life-saving emergency care for more animals than we ever thought possible. But we certainly haven’t done it by ourselves. We absolutely couldn’t achieve great things without the generous support of friends like you.You make all these things possible with you generosity. It’s as if you were here every morning helping us medicate, feed and clean. Or in the afternoon as we make those incredibly wonderful matches. It’s as if you were here with us socializing our cats and exercising our dogs…or simply holding one in your arms as you provide comfort and love to an animal desperately needing it.Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Those words mean so much to me…and define our work here at the shelter. The animals that come through our doors deserve a voice and also our support.I am appealing to you at this time to renew your membership…or join us if you aren’t already a member. Your contribution will enable us to continue these life-saving programs, and provide animals with second chances. We owe them that much.Remember that the animals are depending on you. When you contribute to WCHS, you are helping create an environment for our animals that pays attention to their every need…and, if they are adoptable, they stay with us for as long as it takes. If a new home doesn’t work out for any reason, they always have a warm bed waiting for them here. Please break the silence and voice your support of WCHS. Join us today…and help us make sure that The Washington County Humane Society is still here for the animals that need us.On behalf of those animals, I thank you,Marnie BrownExecutive Director
Our annual membership drive is critical to the operations of the shelter. It not only helps fund our emergency veterinary care and medical needs, it makes a difference for some of our grantors. Foundations may require our membership numbers because they want to ensure that they are making grants to organizations who have strong support in their community. Becoming a member also ensures that you will receive our quarterly newsletter, our e-newsletter that is set to launch in January, and any other communication that we may send your way. Complete the Membership Application online or click here to download a pdf of our application.
