Frisky, curious, tenacious, and absolute comedians! This describes ferrets to a T. Ferrets make wonderful, highly interactive, fun pets for families with a sense of humor and love for adventure. On average ferrets live between 6-8 years and retain their spunky, exploratory, exuberant personalities throughout their lives! They are extremely social creatures and are happiest in pairs or groups. Ferrets require daily interactions with their owners and need time out of their cages everyday to stretch, play, and investigate. Supervision while out of the cage is imperative as they can easily find trouble and can fit into very small spaces. Ferrets are master thieves and will steal interesting objects such as stuffed animals, car keys, remote controls, etc and hide them in their favorite spots. Due to their high metabolism it is important they have access to fresh food and water at all times. Ferrets do require large "condo style" cages with multiple levels. They enjoy the finer things in life and relish snoozing the day away in hammocks and soft fleece sleep bags. Believe it or not, with appropriate supervision, ferrets often get along very well with respectful, playful cats! If a ferret sounds like your cup of tea, race on down to WCHS today.
