I’ve found a pet!

During shelter hours
WCHS is open for stray animal intakes Mondays 8:30am-7pm, Tuesday, Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays 8:30am-5pm, and Wednesdays from 8:30-8pm. If you have found a stray during these hours, please bring the animal into WCHS or contact us at 262-677-4388. If you have to leave a message, we will promptly return your call.

Please note that if you have found a cat and live in a non-contracted municipality, there will be a $38 fee to bring in the stray cat. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. If we do not charge this fee, the municipalities that do contract with us for stray cats will cancel their contracts. WCHS can not continue the valuable work we do without these contracts. Please feel free to contact your local municipalities to inquire why they do not work with WCHS on a cat contract – we would love to work with them!

After shelter hours
If you have found a lost pet after hours and live in a City or Village please contact your local Police Department. If you are the resident of a Township please contact The Washington County Sheriff’s Department at 262-335-4411. We have a staff member on call every day of the week that the police departments can contact to assist you with the lost animal you have found. Again, please note that if you have found a cat and live in a non-contracted municipality there will be a $38 fee.
